ஹரிவராசனம் – ஸ்ரீ ஹரிஹராத்மஜாஷ்டகம்

1. உலகையே மயக்கும் அழகுடையவரும், வழிபடத்தக்க திருவடிகளை உடையவரும், தீமையையும் பகைமையையும் அழித்து நித்திய ஆனந்த நடனம் புரிபவருமான ஹரி-ஹர புதல்வன் ஐயப்பனை நான் சரணடைகிறேன். 2. சரணாகதி கீர்த்தனைகளால் போற்றப்படுபவர்; பக்தர்களின் மனத்தில் உறைபவர்; உலகைக் காத்து, அருணோதய ஒளிபோல் பிரகாசிப்பவர்; உயிர்களுக்கெல்லாம் தலைவரான ஐயப்பனை சரணடைகிறேன். 3. அன்பும் சத்தியமும் வடிவானவர்; உயிர்களுக்கு நாயகன்; தம்மை வணங்குவோரின் விருப்பங்களை நிறைவேற்றுபவர்; பிரணவமான “ஓம்” என்பதின் தத்துவத்தைத் தன்னுள் கொண்டவர்; கீர்த்தனையை நேசிப்பவர். அந்த ஹரிஹர புத்திரனை சரணடைகிறேன். 4. அழகிய முகம் கொண்டவர்; தெய்வீக ஆயுதங்களை ஏந்துபவர்; வேதங்களால் போற்றப்படுபவர்; குருவின் அருளை வழங்குபவர்; பக்திப் பாடல்களை விரும்புபவர். அந்த ஐயப்பனை சரணடைகிறேன். 5. மூவுலகாலும் வணங்கப்படுபவர்; தெய்வீகத்தின் வடிவானவர்; முக்கண்ணனான சிவனின் ஒளியைத் தாங்குபவர்; தெய்வீக குருவாக விளங்குபவர்; தேவர்களால் பூஜிக்கப்படுபவர்; பக்தர்களின் நல்ல எண்ணங்களை நிறைவேற்றுபவர். அவரை சரணடைகிறேன். 6. பிறவி மற்றும் உலக வாழ்க்கையால் ஏற்படும் அச்சத்தை நீக்குபவர்; உலகை மயக்கும் தெய்வீக வடிவுடையவர்; புனித விபூதியால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டவர்; தெய்வீக வாகனங்களோடு விளங்கும் ஐயப்பனை சரணடைகிறேன். 7. மென்மையான புன்னகையும் அழகிய முகமும் கொண்டவர்; மிகவும் மென்மையான, மனதை ஈர்க்கும் திருமேனி கொண்டவர்; யானை, சிங்கம், குதிரை போன்ற வாகனங்களில் எழுந்தருளுபவர். அந்த ஹரிஹர புதல்வனை சரணடைகிறேன். 8. தம்மை சரணடைந்தவர்களுக்கு அன்பானவர்; மனதில் நினைத்த நல்விருப்பங்களை அருள்பவர்; வேதங்களால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டவர்; நல்லோரின் வாழ்வாக இருப்பவர்; கேட்பதற்கு இனிமையானவர்; இசை மற்றும் கீர்த்தனைகளில் மகிழ்பவர். அந்த ஐயப்பனை சரணடைகிறேன். இதன் ஒவ்வொரு சரணத்திலும் வரும் “ஹரிஹராத்மஜம் தேவமாஸ்ரயே” என்பதன் மையப் பொருள்: “ஹரியும் ஹரனும் அருளிய புதல்வனான அந்த இறைவனை நான் சரணடைகிறேன்.”

I seek refuge in Lord Ayyappa, the son of Hari and Hara, who possesses enchanting beauty that captivates the whole world, whose sacred feet are worthy of worship, and who destroys evil and hostility while performing the eternal dance of bliss. 2. I seek refuge in Lord Ayyappa, who is praised through songs of surrender, who dwells in the hearts of devotees, who protects the world, who shines like the light of dawn, and who is the Lord of all beings. 3. I seek refuge in that Harihara Putra who is the embodiment of love and truth, the Lord of life, the fulfiller of the wishes of those who bow to Him, the one who contains within Himself the essence of the Pranava “Om,” and the one who delights in devotional singing. 4. I seek refuge in Lord Ayyappa, who has a beautiful face, who bears divine weapons, who is praised by the Vedas, who grants the grace of the Guru, and who loves devotional hymns. 5. I seek refuge in Him who is worshipped by the three worlds, who is the embodiment of divinity, who bears the radiance of the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who shines as the divine preceptor, who is worshipped by the devas, and who fulfils the noble thoughts and prayers of devotees. 6. I seek refuge in Lord Ayyappa, who removes the fear caused by birth and worldly life, who possesses a divine form that enchants the world, who is adorned with sacred vibhuti, and who shines along with divine vehicles. 7. I seek refuge in that son of Hari and Hara who has a gentle smile and a beautiful face, whose soft and charming form captivates the heart, and who is said to ride upon vehicles such as the elephant, lion, and horse. 8. I seek refuge in Lord Ayyappa, who is dear to those who surrender to Him, who grants the righteous wishes held in the heart, who is adorned by the Vedas, who is the very life of the virtuous, who is pleasing to hear, and who delights in music and devotional songs. The central meaning of the repeated line “Hariharatmajam Devam Ashraye” is: “I seek refuge in that Lord, the divine son born of Hari and Hara.”
